Psychiatric Crisis Services
In late fall of 2014, HSC opened four beds for psychiatric crisis stabilization within its Community Crisis Center. We provide 24-hour nursing and psychiatric care to assist individuals to stabilize and manage their symptoms. This type of psychiatric stabilization can provide an alternative to emergency room use for some psychiatric crisis situations.
As with other behavioral health care providers, HSC has seen an ever-increasing number of patients who struggle with both mental health and substance use issues. Staff at our Crisis Center are trained to provide an integrated approach to assisting individuals who are struggling with both issues.
HSC’s medical director provides oversight for this stabilization unit and there is access to a prescribing physician at all times. HSC works with patients to link them with medication management, secure housing / food, coordination with the individual’s primary care physician, a peer-run Recovery Center, and any other natural supports that are available or can be developed with the individual and family.
